Deprogrammed The Emile Reed Chronicles 2 eBook Nicole Sobon
What we have here is a well-rounded conspiracy! This novel was set in modern times with a futuristic twist. What if there was a company out there that was taking the bodies of our dead (for the sake of science) and turning them into living “programs”? What if that same company started murdering people for the sake of advancing that same technology?
In her Emile Reed series, Nicole Sobon has done just that. Deprogrammed follows the story of Emile Reed, a seventeen-year-old girl with her whole future ahead of her until she was murdered and returned to life as a “Program” as well as Alexis Ward who once betrayed Emile to her uncle and now thwarts his plans in order to earn her redemption from Emile and her family.
This story was a wild and crazy ride, both thrilling and exciting. The decisions and thought processes of the characters were interesting to follow and being in the mind-set of a living robot was interesting in-and-of itself.

Deprogrammed The Emile Reed Chronicles 2 eBook Nicole Sobon Reviews
I received this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you Itching for Books for letting me be a part of this tour.
I recommend you read the first volume- Program 13; it would be easier to understand the story and especially why the characters are going through all this stuff. Deprogrammed picks up right where Program 13 left off.
Nicole Sobon wrote these books brilliantly! She managed to write a great fantasy story with how each and every one of the characters face their problems. She made a bold move with this story and you can sense from how she wrote it, Nicole put her soul into this books. At least, that’s my opinion.
Emile Reed didn’t understand that all her decisions have consequences. She tried to do a good thing, so save her family, but instead she realized her past it’s coming to get her and she doesn’t have anywhere to run. After returning to Vesta Corp, she is deprogrammed and forced to live in her body but at the same she doesn’t have any control over it. Thirteen regained control over her body, and this time they have to live together in it, while Emile hears everything, sees everything but doesn’t react, she can’t. Thirteen told her that there isn’t any chance to escape and stop fighting the inevitable. This time Thirteen wants to win and she is going to do anything. That was until Emile saw him, her savior.
“I went from having everything to losing it all almost instantly. Something that traumatic changes a person. The anger, the depression – it shapes you until you become unrecognizable. Until the person you were has been erased.”
I loved the entire book, more than the first volume actually. This quote has a lot of meaning and it made me realize some things. It has a true meaning! I loved the story and the characters. Thank you Nicole Sobon! I highly recommend this book!
Deprogrammed picks up right where the action packed events of Program 13 left off. And don't worry, McVeigh is as creepy and awful as ever in this book. He certainly takes the cake for awful villians. I just want one of his programs to squish his head like a grape. Or bash it in. Or fry him with electricity. Ok, I think you get the picture. I hate him. In Deprogrammed we get to see a couple of different people's points of view, including Alexis. We get to see some insight into her backstory, which I really liked.
13 and Emile do some more inner battling this book. I can't seem to dislike 13. I know she is just what McVeigh wants her to be, but for some reason, I have a little soft spot for her. She just wants a chance to live. A little part of me is still rooting on her and Emile becoming friends and sharing her body peaceably. We get a lot of questions answered in this sequel to Program 13. And we find out some really cool things. I find it really interesting that even though there isn't even the slightest romance in either the first book or deprogrammed, but so much of this book was about Love. The concept of Love, what it means to feel love and other emotions. What it is that makes a human, human.
I also loved that we got to meet a couple of other programs that were kind of like Emile and program 13. We have grant and Jessica. I'm still not 100% sure about what is going on with Jessica, but I am sure we will find out in the next book. I will say this, I felt so bad for poor Hayden. I really hope he is ok, but we don't have enough answers about him yet. If you are a fan of sci-fi and of creepy dydstopians, you will really enjoy the program 13 series. It is a unique take on the dystopian. It is not a corrupt government, but rather a corporation doing creepy things that no one seems to take enough notice of. Although there is a hint in this book that that may be changing soon. And honestly, that is what makes me excited to read the next book. I can't wait to see when some of the general population gets a whiff of what is going on right under their noses. Should be interesting!
*Disclaimer-I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.
I've wanted to like it, I've really tried. I just can't do it. I love the premise of the book but the plot just doesn't flow. It's boring and tedious to read through and there's no excitement or real adventure. I feel like I'm constantly just hearing about the fight between Thirteen and Emile and how McVeigh does this and manipulates but the story doesn't go anywhere. They constantly try to escape and constantly get recaptured. Sometimes even within the same chapter there's discrepancies that make the story just stagger along.
I wasn't convinced after book one but decided to keep giving the story a try to see if I'd enjoy it more but I just don't. I will not be further reading the series.
